CNC Employers: This could be a handy aid to screening your applicants. Have them complete the test and press the button to post the results to Twitter when they’re done. You’ll be able to see their score. Or, just have them take it at your offices on any machine with a web browser. Give them 10-15 minutes.

There is a question about what character signals a comment in the code. Parenthesis is the quiz’s correct answer. However, I thought it important to note that this varies by machine. I have seen two slashes used // and also a semicolon ;
There are more characters than just parenthesis. I don’t think I’ve come across a controller yet that won’t take parens though.
2 little complaints. A.)These can’t post to facebook for some tech error.
B.) That N code question. N followed by a number is not a code, but just a place designator that helps the programmer find the line they are looking for. Say something goes wrong during execution and the G code screen shows that line. YOU can cycle stop enter the editor and change that line. So yes there is only G and M codes, no N codes. Thanks for putting this online.
Chanan, sorry about the tech error.
I can’t see any reason not to regard “N” as a code in your remarks. G-Code in general is referred to as having a “Word” and “Address” format. “N” is a word just like G or M. That’s how Smid, Fanuc, and all the rest present it. I’m sticking to my guns on that one. N is a code.
