model engines

I’ve always been fascinated by scale models of one kind or another.  There’s something so satisfying about sense of recreating and then possessing the real thing that the model gives in the imagination.

I’ve been involved with a few projects and hope to be involved with more.  For now I just finished major renovations on my older model engine pages.  I did a bunch of research and dug out some new sites for you to check out too.  There are some amazing projects to be found such as the scale Rolls Royce Merlin shown above.  There’s even a $10,000 professional model of a Bugatti Chiron engine.

I don’t know how many CNC’ers realize it, but there’s a genuine market for meticulously machined scale models.  At the higher end, corporations, museums, and wealthy individuals are your customers.  I have one G-Wizard customer who makes a tidy living creating custom models of various locomotives and rolling stock for train companies, for example.

So, if you’re as fascinated by these projects as I am, you won’t want to miss the new Model Engines page on CNCCookbook:
