So you’ve got a bandsaw, maybe one of those inexpensive Chinese made metal cutting bandsaws?  And you need to cut a whole bunch of material to size with it.  You could than there cutting each piece by hand.  Yes, with a stop and all you’ll save a little time, but geeze what a pain.  I’m lazy.  I like the idea of automation.  That’s why I was tickled to see that even this cheezy little 4×6 bandsaw could be fitted with an automatic bar feeder.  Genius!


Here’s the whole works.  It’s all air powered…


There are two air cylinders that hold the stock and a third that pushes it forward a pre-determined amount…

I’m sure that simple idea has saved that fellow a lot of drudgery.  I first read about this over on the Chaski boards.  It’s amazing how many clever ideas and clever folks there are out there!
